Best Friends

“Amongst the severe and heartbreaking poverty, the depth of friendship between these two girls was particularly moving. The girls in this community are very much at risk. They will be pregnant pretty much as soon as they are physically able, and the rest of their lives as children raising children with close to zero resources will be mostly bleak and as desperate as you can imagine. Cocoa production is one way to bring some trade to the community. The few lucky girls within the many unlucky will learn to make the beautiful textiles as well.” – Zoe Helene
