“John Sheldon is not only a dear friend, but the best damn guitarist I know. Even Jimi said he was excellent. As close to envy as I ever get is listening to John Sheldon play guitar. If he were a pianist, he'd be Van Cliburn, Chick Corea and Oscar Peterson rolled into one. Listening to John is like having every one of the best meals you've had in your life, all at the same time.” – Chris Kilham

John Sheldon is the definition of a life lived in music. A guitar prodigy who was working professionally at age 14, including a stint as Van Morrison's lead guitarist at 17 '60s, in the 'Brown Eyed Girl' era, John has gone on to write hundreds of songs and a half dozen excellent rock'-n'-roll records under his own name.

He has also written songs that James Taylor recorded, including ‘September Grass’ and ‘Bittersweet,’ which were featured on ‘October Road’ and ‘The Best of James Taylor,’ both of which went platinum. Taylor calls John “a local phenomenon.”

John has been playing gigs in New England for a small but growing group of devoted fans. Reviewers have called him a “guitar genius,” and an “extraodinaire.” A master guitarist, songwriter and performer, John often works with other musicians to put on a show that is rhythmic, infectious, and often cathartic. John has also composed for film and theater, conducted workshops in songwriting and composition, and taught private lessons for 30 years.

John joined the Ayahuasca Test Pilots October 2011, traveling with the Medicine Hunter to Peru, and returning there in January 2012. He is currently working on new material that reflects his experiences with ayahuasca. “I received an infusion of plant spirit energy that seems to be expressing itself through my music. I feel as if a whole new chapter in my musical journey is just beginning.”

Listen to the new Icaro, Ayahuasca es..., written and sung by Chris Kilham, with musical arrangement, guitar, editing and mixing by John Sheldon, who turned a simple chant into a spirit-infused audio landscape. This is the first icaro offered by the Ayahuasca Test Pilots. There will be more.
